Egg tempera

You will need:
egg yolk
boiled water, 1 eggcup full
spikenard oil, 4 drops
glass plate, 30 x 30 cm
VCA cleanser and kitchen towels to clean equipment and brushes
glass paint rubber
2 palette knives
2 pipettes / medicine droppers
tea strainer

Whisk the egg yolk with the water. Strain the mixture and conserve with 4 drops spikenard oil. The mixture is now ready for use. Place a teaspoon of pigment on the glass plate and moisten with water. Mix the pigment and water into a thick paste using the palette knife. Add the egg/water mixture to the pigment paste using the pipette. Mix with the palette knife. Rub the paste with the pain rubber using a powerful circular motion over the whole plate. Gather the paint with the palette knife and add a little more water/egg mixture. Repeat until a smooth paint is obtained. The paint is now ready for use. If needed, it can be thinned with boiled water.

Useful tips:
Lay on the paint in layers, letting them dry in the sun. No conservative is needed if you use the paint immediately. Keep conserved paint in a well sealed jar in the refrigerator. Always use fresh eggs
