History and application:
Ancient
mineral pigments from France, Italy, Germany and Cyprus.
A range of brown shades. ‘Burnt” actually means roasted, which is how umber acquires its chestnut brown colour.
Can be used with all binders. Umbers rubbed in oil dry very well.
