You will need:
shellac powder, 10 g
borax (X), 2 gram
water, 100 cc
ox gall solution, 1 cc
water and detergent to clean equipment and brushes
black pigment (carbon black etc.)
saucepan
wooden spoon
jar with lid

Warm the water. Do not allow to boil. Add the borax while stirring.
Add the powdered shellac and stir continually until dissolved.
Add the pigment, Continue to stir until the pigment is completely incorporated.
Put in the jar with lid and allow to stand for 1 day. The ink is now ready for use.
Shake before use.

The ox gall solution helps the water and pigment mix by lowering the surface tension.
